Homelessness Committee
About the Homelessness Committee
The Homelessness Committee focuses on all matters related to homelessness in Central Hollywood. It is responsible for:
Informing and educating stakeholders as to the causes of, context surrounding, and policies pertaining to homelessness in Los Angeles;
Integrating CHNC into the governmental, nonprofit, and activist networks of providers and policymakers to mutually reinforce projects supported by the Board;
Providing direct outreach to CHNC’s 550+ unhoused stakeholders;
Providing granular data to the Board and other parties about the status of homelessness in Central Hollywood.
Since 3 out of every 100 of CHNC’s stakeholders is currently homeless, this Committee’s portfolio is large. Major efforts include a yearly census of homelessness in the 7 US census tracts that comprise CHNC’s jurisdiction, service coordination initiatives undertaken with the Hollywood 4WRD coalition and it’s constituent partners, weekend direct outreach to unhoused stakeholders, and liaising with other Neighborhood Councils and governmental offices. CHNC’s Homelessness Committee works directly with counterparts at the Mid City West, Hollywood Studio District, Hollywood United, Hollywood Hills West, Los Feliz, Silver Lake, Echo Park, and Atwater Village NCs.
