What
We Do
We are Central Hollywood's voice in city politics.
CHNC bridges local concerns to action in the Los Angeles City Council.
Living in a city of over three million people,
neighborhood councils are way to express the will of smaller communities.
It's a way for our city government to ask our opinion on critical matters.
And CHNC helps us organize locally so we can act on our own.
The Central Hollywood Community Council tackles
many kinds of projects and problems. Here's just a few examples:
- If a real estate developer wants to build a big
new shopping mall on your block, CHNC gets early
notification from the city. We have the opportunity to review the
plans and offer input.
- De Longpre Park has been taken
over by an unsavory crowd. CHNC is working with LAPD and the Los
Angeles Parks Department to clean it up and make it safe.
- We're tired of seeing couches strewn
about our streets. CHNC has partnered with the Department
of Sanitation in an innovative program where we report bulky item
locations directly to the city for pickup.
- Graffiti draws drug dealers
and gangs. We wanted it gone and organized a Zero Tolerance program
where graffiti gets painted over within two days.
In short, CHNC has a hand in issues that impact
where we live.
